To run docker, all you need to do is copy the Docker binaries for x86_64 onto your OpenWRT device, and run them. Also, this was only tested on the x86_64 version of OpenWRT, I can't guarantee that this will or won't work on any other version. I'll post the solution that finally got it working here so that any others that might wanna do the same have a guide to follow. Yesterday I spent like 15 hours trying to get Docker to work under OpenWRT, and at the end finally did it.
Followed this video to install OpenWrt on hard drive: (Note: Install the er4-img if you want to resize the partition to use all of the remaining storage.) Built an x86_64 router using dual lan mobo, i3-6100, 8gb ram, 16gb mSata.SWITCH #2 - I will also replace this within the next few days.I hope this all works as planned and that OpenWRT is the solution to reign in the girlfriend and eliminate any remaining network issues. I am currently waiting for a few items to complete my OpenWRT router build this weekend. ROUTER - I still believe that the Edgerouter (ER-4) is also problematic.I can't technically describe what happened, but I will say that 99% of the inconsistencies and erratic internet issues disappeared. Wrong! I quickly discovered that the Linksys SE3008 was a major problem. Since I have only owned the Linksys for 6 months, I was sure it would pass this troubleshooting process. SWITCH #1 - On Monday, I swapped the Linksys SE3008 switch with a TP-LINK TL-SG1008D.The Netgear CM600 was an improvement, but I still had problems. Spectrum modems have the Puma 6 chipset which are known to cause internet issues. MODEM - Last Saturday, I replaced the Spectrum Arris modem with a Netgear CM600.Note: I am not interested in trying to install OpenWRT on either Edgerouter. Mobo - Asrock H270m-itx or similar 1151 itx with dual lan.(400 down/20 up Spectrum internet but with constant problems)
From what I have researched, Cake will do a much better job at balancing streams and ending her tyranny over our crappy internet. My solution: Building an x86 router with OpenWRT and use Cake for QoS. SQM (Fq_codel) apparently still gives her high priority. I purchased an Edgerouter X and then upgraded to an ER-4 with hopes of putting a governor on her so that everything would be fair. The girlfriend's work VPN dominates the pipeline although not necessarily all the bandwidth. Problem: Working at home has changed the internet usage dynamics.
